Artist Statement:
I chose to bring attention to the Estuary Environment in my print depicting the sea-dwelling, nature spirit “Oceanid” for Pangea Seed. I live in San Francisco and I am part of the Estuary Environment of the Bay Area. Estuary dwellers, whether they be marine mammal, fish or fowl – or human being – are my kind of people! Many weekends me and my girlfriend can be found roving the Northern California Coast with binoculars, spotting harbor seals and sea lions.
My dawning realization that we are all interconnected by the fragility of the environment has found me upgrading my printing methods for a low environmental impact with my new wash-out sink filtration system and ink clean-up disposal and recycling. Making these changes took some effort, some expense, and are by no means perfect, but I’m doing my best. I am blessed to share my little sunny spot in nature with incredible beings, and I feel incredibly honored to be part of Pangea Seed’s efforts to protect our precious ocean environment.

L’Oeil Ouvert kicks off Indian Summer with “Spirit of California.”
This is the season when Parisiens re-enter The City. Though most Parisiens have returned to anchor at home port,“Spirit of California” will fill your sails with freedom and space!
From September 18, photographers, printmakers, lino-engravers will exhibit together in the Gallery, sharing their most beautiful California drenched visions of light, heat and beautiful energy. Discover the work of each artist as he envisions California, immersed in this innovative, dynamic and creative region, and of other artists, who have traveled the great spaces of California and were inspired by it’s wonders.
FICO, Robin Santus, Ingrid Sissung, Chuck Sperry, will accompany new artists Eric Rewitzer and Annie Galvin of 3 Fish Studios with Thierry Lewenberg-Sturm. Together they exhibit new works available in limited editions prints.
On the occasion of this exhibition, l’Oeil Ouvert offers a workshop with Californian artist Eric Rewitzer.
