I’m very pleased to announce that I will be appearing in Amsterdam on Saturday, May 25 for the opening of Popland 4, a spectacular group show curated by Ciou at KochxBos Gallery.

Popland is a remarkable group exhibition featuring new, emerging, and established talent from around the world, curated by artist Ciou.

There are several artists present at the opening. Meet Briana Hertzog, Chuck Sperry, Jana Brike, Malojo, Mono, Peca and curator Ciou!

Ciou: “I am also one of the artists, and as a curator, I find it fascinating to see how the same influences manifest in different cultures. For example, we can observe that artists within Pop Surrealism are inspired by anime, pop culture, and folk art.

It is interesting to see how artists from Asia interpret American influences, and how artists from Europe approach art from Japan. It is a continuous cycle of inspiration, a perfect circle.”

John Prine winner of the 2020 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, is known for humorous lyrics about love, life, and current events, as well as serious songs with social commentary.  Prine will bring his country sound and folk revival lyricism to rowdy Amsterdam. I’m celebrating his concert at the legendary Paradiso with a poster tip-o-the-hat to the Roaring Twenties.

I will make a very limited release of this poster – and its variants – on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at a random time.

Back to making rock posters with a passion! It was a lot of fun to get back in the saddle and produce this rock poster for The Decemberists at the Paradiso Amsterdam for Ideal Posters! Stoked with the result!

I had a blast making this “Old School” poster in the 1990’s style. I hand-mixed fluorescent and metallic inks from pigment powder, especially for this poster, so every color in it is a custom formula (and very strong chromatically, haha!). I designed the band names and show information in black bars at the top and bottom of the poster – a technique artists in the 1990’s devised to save time, create maximum impact, readability, and to allow for the inevitable last-minute changes in bill or venue (Consider that most posters were color separated by hand-cutting rubylith films with exacto knives – black bars allowed for faster color preparation). Enjoy this super eye-popping “Old School” Supersuckers poster, turn on your blacklight, and listen to the Evil Powers of Rock’n’Roll!
