Soundgarden San Francisco Poster

“Summer Print-athalon 2011” culminates with my Soundgarden, San Francisco poster. There’s so much symbology in the details of this poster, that I think it’s more fun to let you figure it out. So I won’t say anything here. Overall theme is a soothsayer; I feel a lot of Soundgarden’s lyrics are broad and mystical – having a prophetic quality. The figure is one of my Evil Masonic Voodoo Zombies (perhaps a more serious, 33rd degree version).

God this show rocked! I love when the poster and the stage coincidentally (or synchronistically) match. During “Black Hole Sun” the eye in the forehead of the skull grew into a big black dot like the poster – and then turned into a film projection of the sun with an edge of coronal mass ejection – it was veeeeeery cool.

Soundgarden, The Mars Volta,
Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco, July 21, 2011
22 x 33
5 colors on archival cream paper
Signed and Numbered / Artist Edition of 100
Sold Out – Thank You!

“The Forgotten Posters of Chuck Sperry” Art Show at Centro Sociale Leoncavallo, Milano, Italia

(ENGLISH VERSION)

LABORITORIO FOTO SERIGRAPHICO DEL LEONCAVALLO – “In March of the 2006 Chuck Sperry came to Milan in order to establish, during the period spring-summer, his project called the FIREHOUSE EUROPE. With Marcelo de la Hoz, and “sponsorship” from Vandalo, they renovated an area and created the equipment for screenprinting in a space of Centro Sociale Leoncavallo that was in disuse. It can be said that it was begun thus; the new silkscreen movement at Leoncavallo. Chuck, with your short passage in our home, you leave, but not only have you left sources of inspiration for us, and the spirit of silkscreen art: you have left also an artistic treasure, for all of us, of an immense value!

The fundamental reason of this kind invitation is to share this treasure with all of you…”

Widespread Panic “Summer” Poster Wins Award – Print-athalon Achieves Hat-trick

I’m very happy to have finished the Seasons Series for Widespread Panic with my Summer print and Poster of the Week Award winner.  Y’all surprised the hell out of me with a rare (if not unheard of) hat-trick win of three Expressobean.com Poster of the Weeks in a row. When I drove the WP Summer Lady print from San Francisco to Reno with the help of good friend JC Hall of Idealposters, we were treated to ringside seats and viewed the show from bassist Dave School’s soundboard stage left. Thanks to everyone who has supported me and hung in there for a very busy and rewarding year of making Rock Poster Art. Big ups to Widespread Panic for giving me the freedom to flush out a big idea with this Seasons Series.

I’ll be showing photos of my Widespread Panic Summer Variant Editions on Saturday, July 23, 2011 and releasing these Widespread Panic Variant Editions on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at a random time.

I crossed the tape this evening, on my Summer 2011 Print-athalon, with my new Soundgarden poster, finished for the show tomorrow. (No, I can’t show you. You’ll have to be pleasantly surprised at door time tomorrow.)

My Soundgarden poster will be available through Soundgarden at the show here in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Thursday, July 21, 2011.

Let’s keep rocking!

L to R: Classic San Francisco Firefighter Helmet, Shriner Fez (gratis an appreciative and very thoughtful collector of my art), Appropriately numbered Berlin Firefighter Helmet (1960’s glow-in-the-dark style)
