Widespread Panic “Summer” Poster Wins Award – Print-athalon Achieves Hat-trick

I’m very happy to have finished the Seasons Series for Widespread Panic with my Summer print and Poster of the Week Award winner.  Y’all surprised the hell out of me with a rare (if not unheard of) hat-trick win of three Expressobean.com Poster of the Weeks in a row. When I drove the WP Summer Lady print from San Francisco to Reno with the help of good friend JC Hall of Idealposters, we were treated to ringside seats and viewed the show from bassist Dave School’s soundboard stage left. Thanks to everyone who has supported me and hung in there for a very busy and rewarding year of making Rock Poster Art. Big ups to Widespread Panic for giving me the freedom to flush out a big idea with this Seasons Series.

I’ll be showing photos of my Widespread Panic Summer Variant Editions on Saturday, July 23, 2011 and releasing these Widespread Panic Variant Editions on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at a random time.

I crossed the tape this evening, on my Summer 2011 Print-athalon, with my new Soundgarden poster, finished for the show tomorrow. (No, I can’t show you. You’ll have to be pleasantly surprised at door time tomorrow.)

My Soundgarden poster will be available through Soundgarden at the show here in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Thursday, July 21, 2011.

A portion of the sale of the Widespread Panic variant editions will go to help my dear friend Charles Bock and family.

You may remember, I designed the cover of his novel “Beautiful Children.” Check out the book cover design and the poster here.

I’ll quote Charles McGrath about Charles and his situation from the New York Times: “The writer Charles Bock made a great many literary friendships during the years while he struggled to complete his first novel, “Beautiful Children.” When Mr. Bock’s wife, Diana Colbert, was discovered to have leukemia and underwent a bone marrow transplant in the fall of 2009, many of those friends pitched in to offer household help. In October, Ms. Colbert’s leukemia returned (she is scheduled for another transplant next month), and three of the Bocks’ friends, the novelists Fiona Maazel and Mary-Beth Hughes and the writer Leigh Newman, decided they needed to help even more. “We said everything that can be done, should be done,” Ms. Maazel recalled. So on Feb. 6th, at P.S. 122 in the East Village, the Bock friends are throwing what they’re calling “the most literary rent party ever.” Full article
