“It is a huge honor to have been asked to do a poster for rock icon Joan Jett, to celebrate Joan Jett and the Blackheart’s induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“I wanted to capture Joan Jett’s beauty and wildness in my limited edition silkscreened poster: hand-printed in seven colors, including hand-mixed metallic gold and silver, and translucent glazes.
“In my poster design, Joan Jett has got you locked in her gaze; her stance is rebellious and slightly off-center against a glittering gold graffiti background. Joan is beautiful because she rocks and she’s the real deal. Her truth shines through as dazzling beauty. Joan is dark, she’s mysterious, wherever you think you’ve been to the edge, Joan’s been there before you, and she has written a rocking, true and beautiful song about it. That’s why I love her and her music.”

With the great success of my The Who Hits 50 UK Tour poster last year, I’ve been honored once again by The Who. One of the greatest bands on earth has brought me in as the artist for the first leg of their 50th Anniversary US Tour poster!
Often, in the 20 years I’ve been designing and printing my own rock poster art, I have been asked, “If you could do a poster for any band, one you haven’t done a poster for, which band would that be?”
I inevitably answer, “The Who.”
Last year, I was honored to have been asked by The Who to create the official poster for their “50th Anniversary British Tour 2014.”
And today in 2015, celebrating The Who on their 50th Anniversary US Tour, I can check the box next to my dream-come-true, wish-list item, twice.
I’ve made a companion piece to the UK Tour poster. I used seven hand-screenprinted colors for my limited edition poster. I matched the modern pop art attitude of the UK poster: changed the color scheme to a fluorescent green to “military parka” green blend for the background, rearranged The Who’s emblematic RAF symbol, and did my own mod interpretation of The Who’s classic arrow logo. I emblazoned my poster with bright metallic concentric explosion patterns, printed in gold and silver hand mixed inks.
I could not be happier to have been honored to commemorate The Who’s remarkable 50 years in rock’n’roll with a piece of art for the first leg of their 2015 US Tour.
