Chuck Sperry Art To Help Register Voters Through Southern US

“Equal Rights, Flower of Democracy”
18 x 24 offset poster

Join us on Women’s Equality Day, August 26th at The Outrage in the nation’s capitol Washington DC from 2 pm to 6 pm. It’s a kick-off party where Vote Equality launches a massive Southern voter drive. In celebration, The Outrage is releasing my new offset, 18 x 24 version of “Equal Rights, Flower of Democracy” poster. It will be available at The Outrage, and throughout the Southern tour from Vote Equality.

The Vote Equality voter drive tour bus is designed by me (layout: Rachel Welsh de Iga). It features my poster design “Equal Rights, Flower of Democracy” at 7 feet tall, filling the back of the tour bus. My intricate flower patterns cover the bus, which is affectionately known as the Notorious RVG. See below:

Vote Equality will tour North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida on the first leg of their tour throughout the Southern US to activate and register voters. A second leg continuing through the South to be announced.

I am incredibly proud to give my art to the design of this legendary election bus on a historical mission in the midterm elections of 2022. It’s my aim to put my art into action: this is a giant tour with an important message of equality.

The Outrage will be releasing my “Equal Rights, Flower of Democracy” 18 x 24 offset posters at the event on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 2 pm to 6 pm —  and after the party online through their online store. Money raised goes to Vote Equality.

Vote Equality will be distributing my “Equal Rights, Flower of Democracy” 18 x 24 poster on the tour bus at every stop along the tour. Please join Vote Equality along the tour, and get a poster!

About the poster:

Equality is the flower of democracy. Passing the Equal Rights Amendment—at long last—will be the path to gender equality for our American democracy. I am grateful to be called upon to include my voice in the collective call to bring about gender equality by amending the Constitution with passage of the ERA, and I was quick to reach out to fellow artists to join the call to action.

Clio is the Muse of history, daughter of memory. I suggest we remember where we came from, how we got here, who we are, and where we are going. History is not only a collection of objective facts; history is also a story. How we organize those objective facts says a lot about who we are, or who we want to be.

Photo Story: Opening Weekend “Color x Color” at Fort Wayne Museum of Art

Fort Wayne Museum of Art is currently hosting my retrospective exhibition of art, “Color x Color, Selections from the Chuck Sperry Archive.” The exhibition remains on view from April 23 to July 10, 2022.

I would like to thank the Fort Wayne Museum of Art for a spectacular opening last weekend!

My supporters came from every corner of the country to share in the opening celebration of events. I can not thank each and every one of you enough for your beautiful energy and enthusiasm! The staff of the museum showed Olympian hospitality, good humor and grace to me and all my supporters, friends and family.

Special thanks to Museum CEO and President Charles Shepard and Museum Curator of Contemporary Art Josef Zimmerman for mounting this massive retrospective of my printmaking art, and the establishment of a special permanent collection of my entire body of work. I would like to send my appreciation to the entire organization, from trustees to staff who support the archive and the exhibition of my work.

Talented photographer Shaun Roberts documented the excitement of opening night, artist talk, museum curator tour, and artist workshop at the museum (below).

Friday: Exhibition Opening

Saturday: Artist Talk with Carlo McCormick

Saturday: Curator Tour with Josef Zimmerman

Grateful Mahalo

Grateful Mahalo, Bill Kreutzmann’s 75th Birthday Pa’ina
Hosted by Billy & The Kids
with Billy Strings
20 x 35
7 colors on cream paper

This last month of releases has been an exciting one. I love sharing my new art prints and new concert posters as society is beginning to open again and live music returns. Thank you for your support of my art. I appreciate it!

I’ve never been one to brag about my efforts to fight bots and flippers. It’s my belief that this hobby should be fun. I’ve battled the bots for some time. There has been a rising tide of bot buyers and flippers, and I am doing my best to discourage this activity. Over the years, I’ve repeatedly worked with website engineers to block robot IPs. I’ve returned countless orders from suspicious purchases and insta-flippers. But the flippers and bots are cunning and hide behind new names, changing IP addresses, and use ever-advancing software.

Take note that on release of a new print, there are literally thousands of people going for the same prints at the same time. Not everyone can score. They go very fast.

I am pleased with the lottery release of my Grateful Mahalo print. I hope you are pleased as well. The lottery, conducted by my partners at Spoke Art Gallery, helped to make the prints accessible to real fans.

(In fact, this is the first I’ve shared the Grateful Mahalo print or spoken of it on social media or on my website since it was first released by Fans Live, and Bill Kreutzmann. I didn’t want to unintentionally alert the bot buyers.)

All winners have been notified. My apologies to those who did not win (if you did not receive a win notification by now – you’re hereby notified that you were not randomly chosen).

Congratulations to the winners! And again thank you for your support!
