Peace, Love & Understanding, San Francisco, August 26, 2017

I am making this unsolicited peace offering because I love San Francisco…

Peace, Love and Understanding
Civic Center, San Francisco
Saturday, August 26th from 12pm – 5pm

Peace Love and Understanding seeks to focus on what unites us rather than what may divide us. Stand with us in celebration of the diversity that makes San Francisco and the nation stronger! — Speakers, music, and performances by Michael Franti and Spearhead, Malo, The Brothers Comatose, Momma’s Boyz, Marga Gomez & BeBe Sweetbriar.

“Right now it’s important that we not just stand against hate, but that we raise our voices with solidarity in support of diversity, inclusion and equality. Music is a unifying force in the world and in this time we need artists to standup, inspiring people to come together around these values.” – Michael Franti

Co-hosted by / Featuring: Rev. Dr. Megan Rohrer, Galeria de la Raza, Stop the Violence, Women’s March San Francisco, Castro Community On Patrol, Queer Nation-San Francisco, 7×7, Unafraid, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Welcome

Jerry Garcia “Tangled Up In Blue” Limited Edition Print by Chuck Sperry

Jerry Garcia (Autumn), 2017
21 x 32
Edition of 500
9 colors on cream paper
Signed and Numbered

I will be making my artist copies available only through my art shows and live appearances through the end of 2017.

This poster was officially available through the Jerry Garcia Estate.

The third in a series of four screen-prints from renowned artist Chuck Sperry celebrating Jerry’s life and legacy. Each print is signed & numbered by the artist in an edition of 500.

“My third print in my portrait series, “Jerry Garcia (Autumn)”, seeks to capture the wisdom and compassion of the Grateful Dead’s lead guitarist. Jerry anchored the concert hall with his good nature, while a wild, free improvisation swirled through him and around him. I wove a psychedelic paisley pattern throughout the design rendered in nine colors, including bright hues, hand-blended metallics and translucent glazes. My aim is to portray the elder Jerry, the mature artist with a child-like wonder tempered by “A Touch of Grey.” In a decade that dealt many challenges, Jerry’s determined belief “I will get by, I will survive” inspired his greatest moments of clarity and energy.” – Chuck Sperry
