The Chuck Sperry Retrospective at The Peoples Art of Portland offered a mind-blowing overview of Sperry’s career with more than 250 framed rock posters, the release of Sperry’s art print “Psyche” and the exhibition of his large format screen prints on wood panel. Portland’s vibrant, cutting edge art scene showed up in force to welcome Sperry, and to view his extensive show. Attendees were introduced also to the art of special guest from Argentina, Alan Berry Rhys. Photos below – taken by Danielle Kirby – are from the August 17 opening and feature artists Emek, Gary Houston, Justin Hampton (Hampton photo credit to Mike Suchocki), and exhibition producers Jason Brown and Chris Haberman. The film just below, made by Danielle Kirby and produced by The Peoples Art of Portland, gives some insight and context to Chuck Sperry’s creative process and the great occasion of creating a retrospective of his work in Portland.
