Alan Berry Rhys Solo Show
at Hangar 18 Studio Gallery
1428 34th Street, Oakland, CA
Friday, August 9, 2013
6 pm to 11 pm
Join us for an evening reception and sale of art prints by Argentine artist Alan Berry Rhys, including his latest, “Kraken Embotellado” at the H18 (Hangar 18) Studio Gallery. He will be exhibiting scores of cool art prints direct from the heart of the vibrant Buenos Aires Art Scene.
Alan Berry Rhys teaches Art at FADU, The Free University of Buenos Aires, publishes the Argentine art magazine Porco, and prolifically creates street art and screen printed art, sometimes mixing the two to create combines and assemblages. His art is informed by the urban environment, folk signage, and a penchant for folk legend and tall tales.
Alan Berry Rhys published Chuck Sperry’s recent art book, “High Volume,” which was an imprint of Porco art magazine, and distributed by Last Gasp of San Francisco.
Hangar 18 is a showcase for artwork in the unique setting of Chuck Sperry’s screen printing studio in Oakland. The H18 Project is an ongoing pop up gallery where we present collectors with a unique studio experience, visiting the iconic Bay Area artist Chuck Sperry and artists who have collaborated with or influenced him.
As a bonus: Chuck Sperry will also be releasing a special, surprise print at the event – to be released LIVE at this H18 event on Friday, August 9th, followed by release online at a random time on Saturday August 10th.
