“Among the most important poster artists of the last twenty years: Chuck Sperry has revived the glories of the great Californian psychedelic tradition of late 1960s, in the wake of artists such as Rick Griffin, Wes Wilson and Victor Moscoso. Bright colours, harmonious images that reflect pop themes or the marked influence of Art Nouveau and a unique printing technique are the hallmarks of the artist from San Francisco. After having signed poster for hundreds of rock bands, from famous names to more obscure underground bands, Chuck Sperry presents in Italy his first exhibition of works not directly linked to the music world. “The Flowers of Popular Victories”, on display at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery of Rome from 7 June to 10 July, brings together a series of prints that express the attention of Sperry for Ecology and new social and political movements. From the iconographic point of view they mix elements that come from the world of graffiti in poster art colorful and floral”
